Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions provides a Court-Ordered DUI Program in each location that provides: DUI Evaluation, Treatment Planning, PRI 20-Hour Education, Outpatient Group Counseling, Outpatient Individual Counseling, Case Management, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Medication-Assisted Physician Withdrawal Therapy, Relapse Prevention Planning, Medication-Assisted Physician Withdrawal Therapy and Counseling , Aftercare Planning and discharge planning, referral as necessary as well as other substance abuse, psychiatric, mental health counseling, alcohol and drug testing and DNA Testing as needed. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES - LOUISVILLE DUI CLASSES The primary goals of Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions’ DUI Program are: 1) to reduce recidivism for criminal activity of patients including DUI Offenders; 2) to assist offenders/patients in returning to fully functioning and productive members of the community, family, work, group, social network; and 3) to provide skills in life management and living which foster reliance on self and others rather than on chemicals. The primary objective of our DUI Program in Louisville Ky is too : a) to address the substance addiction/abuse of patients as a physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual illness; b) to motivate the client to make major necessary lifestyle changes in order to remain free of criminal activity and substance addiction; b) to assist patients in developing life management and living skills; c) to educate the addicted client about the illness; d) to develop and enhance self-esteem and self-understanding; e) to promote the restoration of physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual health; f) to educate family members on the effects of the disease process of addiction; g) to educate the patient/offender about the Recovery Process; g) to educate the patient/offender about the Relapse Process including early warning signs and interventions; h) to encourage the patient/offender to identify related irrational thoughts, unmanageable feelings and self-defeating actions, urges or behaviors that lead from stable recovery to active relapse; i) to encourage the patient/offender to obtain a Temporary Sponsor and Home Group; j) To encourage the patient/offender to complete a written 1st Step as appropriate; k) to help the client/offender develop a written plan for continuing care or aftercare plan; l) to enlist the involvement of family members and significant others as appropriate; m) to provide an easy transition to the patient’s /offender's next phase of treatment and recovery and n) to decrease recidivism rates for those patients/offenders having difficulty making the transition from inpatient or partial hospitalization programs to a less restrictive environment.
ADMISSION AND READMISSION POLICY Admission to the Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions’ DUI Program can occur only after a DUI Evaluation. The criteria for admission include the following: patient is not actively homicidal or suicidal; patient demonstrates a substance abuse problem or a driving and drinking/drugging problem; patient agrees to abide by the program guidelines; client’s history of alcoholism/drug abuse/dependency or mental health problems needs evaluation to determine if alcohol/drug dependency/abuse is a problem presently; client is experiencing stress due to intoxication or withdrawal; client is experiencing no serious medical problems that may interfere with treatment process and appears medically stable. Criterion for admission is that the person wants to live a life free from chemicals or wants to resolve a driving and drinking/drugging problem, and is willing to stay in the program for the specified time and needs the structured environment. Admission to the outpatient program requires a screening appointment with a staff person. Screening appointments can be done on an emergency basis, but are done by appointment and can usually be scheduled within forty-eight hours of a telephone call. Criteria for re-admission is the same as the criteria for first admission. Payments for all programs are based on EAP, insurance, third-party payment self pay or a reduced fee.
POPULATION The specific target group served by Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions are DUI Offenders and other offenders as well as other substance abusers or chemically dependent persons and their families who receiving citations or are arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or other drugs who live in Jefferson County and surrounding counties as well as Southern Indiana areas and those with mental health problems. Patients are accepted regardless of race, creed, sex, sexual orientation or religious preference. Inpatient programs services are provided through referral to local facilities. The outpatient programs serve children, adolescence, adults, and seniors. Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions accepts patients from all states with a DUI.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions receives no funding through the State Cabinet of Human Resources, Metro United Way or other reimbursements. Our revenues are solely from payment of services including EAP, insurance and reduced fees.
HOURS OF OUTPATIENT PROGRAM Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions provides day, morning, evening and weekend Outpatient Counseling and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for those individuals and their families who need more structure than traditional outpatient treatment but do not need hospitalization. Activities include: alcohol/drug education, individual, group, family counseling, introduction to self-help, relapse prevention, aftercare planning and discharge planning. Intake is often available six days per week from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. Program hours are six days and evenings weekly excluding Friday and Saturday evenings.
OUTPATIENT DUI CLASSES Dave Harmon & Associates Counseling Solutions’ Outpatient Program is designed for patients and families who are in need of treatment for alcohol/drug dependency or alcohol/drug related problems including DUI’s, and all other drug or alcohol related charges. Admission of patients may occur directly into the outpatient program. The length of treatment varies. Treatment includes alcohol/drug education, individual, group, marital, family, intensive outpatient, vocational counseling, and referral.
